¡You´ll find us 4 kilometers from Puerto Viejo
Cocles is the first beach you´ll find south of Puerto Viejo. The north of Playa Cocles is known as ¨Beach Break¨, which is perfect for surfing and the south end of Playa Cocles directly in front of the hotel is ideal for swimming. You will find a large variety of restaurants, bakeries, markets and a Beach Club in Cocles. When you visit Caribe Town, you have easy access to about everything in a 10 minute walk.
Playa Chiquita is the next beach south of Cocles, known for the natural coral pools at the edge of the water. Little closed lagoons surrounded by corals that offer protection from the waves or just a quiet place to enjoy sun, shade, water and the ocean breeze. The coral pools start about 500 meters south of the hotel.
Following Playa Chiquita, about 4 kilometers from the hotel to the south is Punta Uva (Grape Point). Well known for white sand beaches and the lack of currents from the protection of the point.
Playa Grande is the next beach south of Punta Uva. 6 kilometers from the Hotel, this is a pure surfing beach. The large waves and currents make this area generally dangerous for general swimming although the beaches are lovely for a picnic.
And finally, 9 kilometers from the hotel, well known Manzanillo, the last town on the coastal road within Costa Rica. Long tranquil beaches, including access to theManzanillo-Gandoca Wildlife Refuge. These protected lands make for beautiful hiking in the jungle along the ocean, enjoying the small wild beaches and corals.
Gandoca is the last coastal town in Costa Rica with the border to Panama noted via the Sixaola river, known as the Changuinola-Guabito line in Panama. Although Gandoca is on the coast, the access to her beaches, Lagunas or to watch the leatherback turtles laying their eggs (April-May) are only accessible by heading inland through Bribri.
Bribri, about 17 kilometers from the Hotel, is the local Indigenous town in Talamanca.
Voyaging north from the hotel, you find ¨Town¨:¡Puerto Viejo! This is where the action is. Shops filled with local arts, souvenirs and maybe some new and interesting things you´ve never seen before. Restaurants of all varieties and budgets and all the night life you might be looking for in the clubs and bars. A bustling area! Although lovely to have so close by, we appreciate being slightly removed. The silence and tranquility of our neighbourhood is the perfect place to recover from an energetic night out. Easily accessible, Puerto Viejo is 5 minutes by car, 3000CRC or $6 in taxi, 15 minutes by bicycle and 45 minutes walking.
Just north of Puerto Viejo is Playa Negra (Black Beach), known by her black sands and the abandoned boat. Great beach for swimming or surfing depending on the season.
Playa Negra connects with Cahuita National Park which is 20 kilometers from the Hotel. The town of Cahuita is interesting to visit and the National Park is one of the best in Costa Rica. Including amazing beaches, a variety of plants, animals and birds to suffice any nature lover and with a guide you can access the coral wall about 1km from the shoreline for snorkeling that is truly PURA VIDA!
And 65 kilometers to the north, the city of Limon, second largest city in Costa Rica and the largest port between Columbia and Mexico.
Puerto Viejo is the preferred enclave for travelers to make excursions to Tortuguero National Park (North Caribbean) and for visits to Bocas del Toro, the archepelagio of islands in Panama.
